TWG-11 achieves Standard Performance Evaluation for Banana Plantation: A Milestone for Davao Region

Region XI – The Technical Working Group (TWG) headed by OIC Director Ma. Theresa M. Francisco (NCMB 11), Atty. Connie Beb A. Torralba (DOLE-11), representatives of management, local union and KMU federation of Musahamat Farms II recently concluded the formulation of the standard criteria for regularization of the 52 probationary workers (5 months period); which finally inked by the parties on July 7, 2016 at Farm Site, Pantukan, Compostela Valley .

The performance evaluation standard was one of the outcomes of the settlement/agreement signed by Musahamat Farms, Inc. (Farm II) and Musahamat Workers Labor Union-National Federation of Labor Union-Kilusang Mayo Uno on April 15, 2016 in relation to the Notice of Strike filed by the Union on March 15, 2016 at this Branch docketed as   RCMB-XI-CVP-NS-03-001-2016.

The agreement includes the work engagement of the fifty two (52) agency workers by Musahamat Farms II under a probationary status, based on the provision of the law.  After which,  the determination of regularization status shall be in accordance with the Standard Performance Evaluation to be formulated by the TWG-11 and the Union and Management.

The TWG established a standard evaluation comprised three (3) indicators with corresponding weighted average, first, unauthorized tardiness (40%) – as tardiness without prior written or verbal/text permission.  Second, the number of unauthorized absences (40%) as absences without prior written or verbal permission or filing of appropriate leave form. Last, the 8-hours work performance with a weighted average of 20%.

All of the indicators mentioned have rating scale of outstanding, very satisfactory, satisfactory, fair and poor.  Passing rate is Satisfactory while evaluation period is set on September 20, 2016.  The TWG XI will convene on September 21, 2016 for the final evaluation.

Indeed this Branch innovativeness, focus and determination have produced another milestone that will serve as good practices in the banana industry.
