The Branch launched the 2021 Twin Search with a theme: “Responsiveness and Resilience in Times of Disruption: The 2021 Search for Outstanding Labor Management Cooperation (LMC) and Outstanding Grievance Machinery (GM) for Industrial Peace” for Region XI last May 18, 2021 at Sunny Point Hotel, Maa, Davao City.

There were six companies who attended this launching with their management and workers’ representatives. These companies were potential contenders for the said Search, namely:

  1. New City Commercial Corporation (NCCC);
  2. Davao Doctors Hospital;
  3. Unifrutti Tropical Philippines Inc.;
  4. Davao Light and Power Corporation;
  5. Tagum Agricultural Development Company (TADECO); and
  6. Apex Mining Corporation

This year’s Search is a special edition in recognition of LMCs that have remained focused and true to the very essence of the Search – cooperation and partnership – despite the COVID-19 pandemic that tested their significance and relevance amidst retrenchments and company closures. It highlights the contribution of LMCs in improving workers’ welfare, sustaining corporate viability and enhancing harmonious labor-management relations during the pandemic.

The Search also continues to benchmark best practices and success stories on dispute resolution among organized and unorganized companies to serve as models and inspiration for other companies to emulate and follow.

The Branch also showcased the 2019 Search Awardees. A video of both the 2019 Outstanding LMC for Industrial Peace Awardee of Region IV-A, Ampleon Philippines Inc., and the 2019 Outstanding GM for Industrial Peace Awardee of Region III, International Electric Wires Philippines Corporation, were presented to encourage participants to join and be recognized in this 2021 Search.

There was also an added session as participants share the difficulties and challenges they’ve experienced, the adaptation and the new policies that they were forced to impose to cope with the community health standards imposed by the national government and the local government units. The participants greatly appreciated this session and some even expressed their desire to return to their respective workplace with greater enthusiasm. Also, this further encouraged them to join the 2021 Search.

The nominations for the 2021 Regional Search for Outstanding LMC and Outstanding GM ends on June 30, 2021. Interested companies can still submit their nominations to the Branch located in AMQ Building, Manuel L. Quezon Boulevard, Davao City. Winners of the Regional Search will be nominated to the national level for this 2021 Search.
