The National Conciliation and Mediation Board conducted the Twin Search for 2021 Outstanding Labor Management Cooperation (LMC) and Outstanding Grievance Machinery (GM) for Industrial Peace shown via Zoom, Facebook Live and Youtube on December 15, 2021.

Among the winners, three companies and their respective unions from Davao Region bagged the national awards.

Tagum Agricultural Development Company (TADECO), Inc. and TADECO Labor Union-Southern Mindanao Federation of Labor and Davao United Supervisory Union received the award for the 2021 Outstanding Grievance Machinery for Industrial Peace, for the organized category.

TADECO were co-winners for the Outstanding GM award with Ilaw Buklod ng Manggagawa-United Miners of Carmen Copper-Workers Solidarity Network (IBM-UMCC-WSN) and Carmen Copper Corporation, based on Cebu City.

TADECO was awarded with a plaque of recognition and a cash prize of 100,000 pesos.

Apex Mining Corporation, Incorporation (AMCI) received a plaque of recognition as one of the National Finalists for the Outstanding Grievance Machinery for the unorganized companies category.

The Search for Outstanding Grievance Machinery for Industrial Peace as stressed by Executive Director IV of NCMB Maria Teresita Lacsamana-Cancio is in recognition of the efforts of labor and management in resolving issues at the company level which contribute greatly in enhancing labor-management relations.  The Search has been a valuable means to showcase the benefits of an effective grievance machinery in the organization.  It continues to benchmark best practices and success stories on dispute resolution among organized and unorganized companies to serve as models and inspiration for other companies to emulate and follow.

The Search aims to highlight the contribution of GMs in enhancing labor-management relations towards company efficiency, productivity, competitiveness, and maintenance of industrial peace.

For the Outstanding LMC, Davao Doctors Hospital, Inc. LMC received the special award on Best in Effective Organizational Features of the LMC – Large Company.  This award is given to LMCs for effectively integrating to the LMC system the cooperative culture of employees and management in responding to the challenges of the current pandemic thereby fostering open communications and healthy exchange of information between and among stakeholders.

TADECO Bananeros Family Circle also received special award on Strategic Partnership, for organized category. This special award on Best in Strategic Partnership is given to LMCs for fostering a successful labor management partnership that builds a work environment conducive to performance excellence, full participation, and personal growth and maintaining a strong sense of purpose, belongingness and unity.

Besides their special awards, DDHLMC and TADECO Bananeros Family Circles were given plaques of recognition as National Finalists for the Outstanding LMC for Industrial Peace.

The LMC Search with the theme “Responsiveness and Resilience in Times of Disruption: The 2021 Search for Outstanding Labor Management Cooperation” recognizes the LMC best practices that worked through the risks and struggles arising from the pandemic and how labor and management responded to these challenges.

Special awards were also given to other distinguished companies for their successful LMCs.
