RCMBXI Thumbs-Up with Highland Banana Corp.

for Three Enhancement Seminars


The Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch XI conducted three plant level orientation seminars for four batches of Highland Banana Corp. for Toril-based employees. The first one was on February 28, 2020 with more or less 106 participants.  Another one was on March 6, 2020 for another batch of more or less 100 participants.  The third batch was held on March 13 for another 106 participants.

Larry Carmen, HR Manager of the company said, “It is really the aim of the President of this company to let all the employees know and be informed of the programs of NCMB particularly the Labor Management Cooperation and Grievance Machinery and Voluntary Arbitration.”


The last and next batch was suspended which is supposedly on March 20, 2020 due to the State of Public Health Emergency caused by Covid19 outbreak.

Mr. Carmen emphasized how LMC works in their company as HBC-Toril and Tagluno Highland Labor Union-Associated Labor Union headed by Roland Buada, Union President have just concluded their Collective Bargaining Agreement on February 12, 2020.

The branch facilitated HBC-Toril on December 3, 2014 and has been conducting enhancement seminars since then. As per record, HBC-Toril including other plantations namely Guianga and Sirib, Pangyan and Subasta have no filed cases with the branch.



Highland Banana Corp.-Toril as part of Tristar Group of Companies, is engaged in banana production and exporting arm of the JVA based in Davao headed by Larry Carmen, Personnel and Administrative Manager.
