RCMBXI Settles Labor Dispute at Pepsi-Cola at the last working day of 2019


“Pepsi-Cola Products Phils., Inc. (PCPPI) and Pepsi-Cola Employees and Workers’ Union (Davao)-Federation and Cooperation of Cola, Beverage and Allied Industry Unions-Sentro ng mga Nagkakaisa at Progresibong Manggagawa (PEWU-FCCU-SENTRO) signed their Memorandum of Agreement on Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations today December 27, 2019,” OIC-Director Aerrine Marie R. Reyes announced today.

“This is very remarkable for the year since the branch facilitated the settlement of this labor dispute on the last working day of the year which started on December 26 until dawn of December 27.  Finally, it was signed this day,” Dir. Reyes added.




The union filed a Notice of Strike against Pepsi-Cola on September 5, 2019 on the issue of political and economic provisions for their CBA which the branch considered as a hot case.

Conciliator-mediator Rhium Truce Salvador and Dir. Reyes conducted series of meetings and marathon conciliation conferences for the resolution of several provisions which include salary increases, CBA grant, calamity loan, bereavement assistance, labor education subsidy, Labor Day assistance, union leave, rice subsidy, 36 regularized employees among others and also political provisions.

Total monetary benefits totalled to more or less P50M.

Pepsi-Cola Products Phils., Inc. is the exclusive bottler of Pepsi-Cola beverages in the Philippines.  It manufactures and sells in-demand products such as Pepsi-Cola, Mountain Dew, 7-Up, Mirinda, Mug, Gatorade, Tropicana, Lipton, Sting, Premier, Aquafina, and Cheetos.  It has established manufacturing facilities across the country, serving at least 500,000 outlets and providing employment through its extensive distribution network.  It is located at Dumoy, Davao City headed by Mr. Rolando L. The Union, Pepsi Cola Employees and Workers Union is an affiliate of Federation and Cooperation of Cola, Beverage and Allied Industry Unions-Sentro ng Nagkakaisa at Progresibong Manggagawa and the sole and exclusive bargaining agent of rank and file employees of Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines, Inc. headed by its local Union President, Mercedes Abucayon.  Sheila A.
