Davao City – The Regional Branch’s employees availed the grant given by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Coursera to learn and develop skills crucial to their functions.

RCMBXI employees joined the 9th Orientation of the Coursera grant by DOST-CARAGA last September 3, 2020 via Facebook Live. DOST informed the attendees that Coursera has granted them 10,000 slots to access courses and specialization offered by renowned universities across the globe. After the orientation, many of the Branch’s employees were granted the privilege to be part of these 10,000 scholars.

The Branch’s employees-scholars then enrolled specialization and courses related to their work functions such as:

  • Specialization: Negotiation, Mediation and Conflict Resolution
  • Specialization: Project Management
  • Specialization: Excel Skills
  • Specialization: Advanced Financial Accounting
  • Stand-alone Courses
    • Introduction to Negotiation: A Strategic Playbook for Becoming a Principled and Persuasive Negotiator
    • Successful Negotiation: Essential Strategies and Skills

“We encourage each of you to optimize this grant and develop your skills during your free time,” DOST Coursera Administrator Noel Ajoc declared during the orientation. Finishing a course will grant the student a Course Certificate acknowledged by the university offering the course. The grant for Coursera will last till December 31, 2020. However, students are required to enroll all the subjects they intend to learn by September 30, 2020.

“Kudos to DOST and Coursera! The courses in Coursera will help enhance our skills and make us more competent workers of the government. I myself have enrolled to a course related to Negotiation and Conflict Resolution and I am eager to the see the enhancement this course will bring in my knowledge and manner in conciliation and mediation of labor cases”, OIC-Director Aerrine Marie R. Reyes professed to the DOST.

As the 10,000 slots is not yet filled-up, DOST is scheduled to host another orientation on September 10, 2020 at 1:30 pm.

Coursera is the largest world-wide online learning platform that offers massive open online courses (MOOC), specializations, degrees, professional and mastertrack courses. It was founded by Stanford University’s computer science professors Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller in 2012.
