RBXI Facilitates RFA from a Maritime Sector and Refers the Issues to VA in One (1) Sitting Only
DAVAO CITY – The National Conciliation and Mediation Board, Regional Branch XI facilitates another Request for Assistance (RFA) from a maritime sector and refers the issues to Voluntary Arbitration.
Single Entry Assistance Desk Officer (SEADO) Nancy L. Lasquite facilitates the issues raised by Capt. Romeo C. Conejar of Astra Marine International, Inc. on the issues of money claims, disability benefits and medical reimbursements. This RFA was filed on May 2, 2016 and was then docketed as RCMB-XI-DDS-SENA-05-0006-2016.
On May 23, 2016, both parties appeared for the initial conciliation conference. After a thorough discussion, both parties did not reach an amicable settlement. Instead, they agreed to submit the issues to Voluntary Arbitration. Ms. Lasquite, SEADO, also facilitated the selection of Voluntary Arbitrators. Finally, they selected a panel of Accredited Voluntary Arbitrators namely Mr. Alfredo C. Olvida, Ms. Rosamyrna T. Gallego and Atty. Art O. Tan. The issues formulated were 1.) Whether Capt. Romeo C. Conejar is entitled to a total and permanent disability benefits under the Collective Bargaining Agreement 2.) Whether Capt. Romeo C. Conejar is entitled to medical reimbursement and sickness allowance. Hence, the instant RFA was then disposed from the business calendar of the branch effective May 23, 2016.
