Davao City – Two instant Notices of Strike at LifeBank Foundation (LBF), Inc. were settled on April 17, 2015, in just one conciliation conference here at Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch XI.

Pinag-isang Tinig at Lakas ng Anak Pawis (PIGLAS) Mindanao Rank-and-File Chapter; and Mindanao Supervisory Chapter filed a Notice of Strike on April 15 on the ground of unfair labor practices (ULP) against the employer LifeBank Foundation (LBF), Inc.

Both unions alleged of management interference with the employees right to self organization by enjoining the employees from participating in the scheduled Certification Election; and actively campaigning for “NO UNION” vote and harassing and/or discrimination a suspected union member or officer in the workplace.

These two instant Notices of Strike were then docketed as RCMB-XI-DDS-NS-04-003-20015 and RCMB-XI-DDS-NS-04-004-20015, respectively.

“After the parties have explained their respective positions on the issues in this NS, this Office conducted series of separate meetings and assisted both parties to come up with a mutually acceptable terms of settlement and later on joined the parties again to discuss the options to patch up their differences,” Conciliator-Mediator Aerrine Marie Reyes said who facilitated these Notices of Strike.

The parties mutually agreed to settle the following issues, namely: “no observer” from the management during the Certification Election shall be deployed in the precincts which is scheduled on April 22, 2015 by DOLE-ROXI; those coming in as observers will be deployed for MIS Operation outside the precincts; and information enjoining management staff from interfering in the Certification Election will be done through call or text messages by the management.

PIGLAS Mindanao Rank-and-File Chapter with 419 members, and PIGLAS Mindanao Supervisory Chapter with 72 members were both duly registered with DOLE-ROXI and represented by Atty. Jezreel M. Babatid, legal counsel.

On the other hand, LifeBank Foundation, Inc. was represented by Mr. Wendy Tornalejo, Human Resource Manager. LBF, Inc. is a non-stock and non-profit finance business based in Iloilo City envisioned of breaking the chains of poverty through micro finance and social services.# (Dennis M. Galorio, LIO)
