NCMB-RBXI Facilitates LMC and GM at Concentrix

Davao City – “The National Conciliation and Mediation Board, Regional Branch XI finally introduced and facilitated the setting up of Labor Management Cooperation and Grievance Machinery programs at Concentrix Services Corp.-Davao on September 14, 2018,” Ms. Nancy Lasquite, Supervising Labor and Employment Officer stated.

22 participants joined in the seminar including Operations Manager, HR Manager, other managers, team leaders and supervisors.

Lasquite gave the LMC conceptual framework to emphasize how important two-way communication is.  Lasquite states in her module “Communication is the heart and soul of  any relationship.  The same goes through with our relationship in the workplace”.

Lasquite also gave some workshops to the participants. One of these was they were given a piece of paper and instructions to fold and tear portions of their paper.  However, they were not allowed to ask questions.  Results showed they had different output.

Ms. Ellen Jane Garcia, Site Director as one of the participants was asked about what she feels while folding and tearing the paper said “I’m not sure if what I am doing is right or wrong.”

Lasquite emphasized “There are no wrong answers or output.  Your experience shows that a one-way communication is not effective in giving instructions.  That is why we  need a channel of communication to discuss our issues and concerns.  With this, LMC serves as a good forum or venue for discussion, consultation and negotiation for both workers and management.”

Senior LEO Cary Jun Montero gave the Grievance Machinery and Voluntary Arbitration.

LEO III Sheila A. Rivera also gave the other programs namely Single Entry Approach (SEnA) and Gender and Development (GAD).

Rivera noticed and appreciated the gender-sensitivity of Concentrix as clearly seen at the door of their restrooms which are labelled as gender-sensitive.   Apart from that, Concentrix has been compliant with the Special Leave Benefits for Women.  As what HR Manager Joy Rapas said, one of the employees has already availed the “Special Leave Benefits for Women”.

LMC is one of the programs of NCMB which can be utilized as a proactive mechanism in addressing issues and concerns that may arise in the workplace. Likewise, companies that conduct meetings regularly can be aligned with the LMC framework.

While GM is a reactive mechanism that helps resolve grievances and conflicts between workers and management.

Ms. Rapas expressed her gratitude for NCMB for the services extended to them.
