The Branch conducted its first ever face-to-face Plant Level Orientation Seminar (PLOS) since the start of the pandemic on the main programs of the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) last March 26, 2021.

Anthony Enterprises, located in Hagonoy, Davao del Sur, was receptive of the Branch’s invitation to a seminar that advocates harmony between management and labor especially during this pandemic. Due to the nature of their services, the availability of communication equipment and their employees’ work schedules, the company preferred a face-to-face orientation rather than an online seminar.

Five officials and employees of the Branch went to facilitate the conduct of this seminar with the observance to the health and safety protocols by wearing face masks and face shields. In turn, they were 11 representatives from Anthony Enterprises, both from management and labor during the seminar with one of them the business owner of Anthony Enterprises.

The seminar started with an overview of NCMB and its programs including the Single-Entry Approach and Gender and Development (GAD) by Conciliator-Mediator Rhium Truce C. Salvador. Then, Labor Employment Officer III Sheila A. River presented the conceptual framework of Labor and Management Cooperation (LMC). Rivera emphasized that LMC is the best venue to discuss issues and concerns. Lastly, Senior Labor and Employment Officer Cary Jun P. Montero discussed Grievance Machinery (GM) and Voluntary Arbitration. Montero defined that GM is a mechanism established for the adjustment and resolution of grievances.

One of the successes of this PLOS was the facilitation of LMC. Initially, they were able to setup their steering committee. One of the management representatives was the business owner herself, Ms. Cynthia N. Laudato. Moreover, there were three representatives identified from the worker’s side.

On April 5, Anthony Enterprises informed the Branch that they were able to institutionalize their Grievance Committee. In addition, various sub-committees under the Grievance Committee were also created which were (1) Family Welfare Program, (2) Productivity Improvement Program, (3) Labor Law Compliance, (4) Decorum and Investigation, and (5) Corporate and Social Responsibility.

Anthony Enterprises is a manpower service provider located in Purok 6, Guihing, Hagonoy, Davao del Sur. The company mainly provides their labor services to Lapanday Foods Corporation. They employ a total of 527 employees, of which 45 are female employees and 482 are male workers. Anthony Enterprises is headed by its President, Ms. Cynthia N. Laudato. Gary B. Bonghanoy
