RCMBXI Conducts First Seminar this 2019 at Pepsi-Cola

 

Davao City – “Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch XI marked 2019 calendar for the first conduct of seminar at Pepsi Cola Products of the Phils., Inc. on January 17, 2019 held at Rams Function Hall, McArthur Highway, Bago Aplaya, Davao City,” OIC-Director Aerrine Marie Reyes announced today.

Pepsi Cola has planned and prepared well for this seminar-workshop which was headed by Ms. Leah D. Morado, HR Manager and Ms. Ryann Jane C. Cagata, HR Officer since each of their division was represented.  16 represented the labor sector composed of union officers and shop stewards and 19 represented the management mostly are managers from different divisions from operations, materials control, physical distribution, production, logistics, sales, finance, trade marketing to human resource to top management.

This activity is a plant level orientation seminar on the main programs namely Labor Management Cooperation (LMC), Grievance Machinery (GM) and Voluntary Arbitration (VA) and Conciliation-mediation including Single Entry Approach (SEnA) and Gender and Development (GAD) as integration to LMC. We say plant level since the branch conducted the activity exclusively to the company where there is an interactive discussion on the said programs for both labor and management representatives.  More so, this is not just a one-way learning session but a two way process wherein  representatives can learn about labor relation particularly the programs of NCMB and can raise questions and clarifications and therefore communicate with one another while RCMBXI team learns from them and the company as well.

Mr. Gerald Ian E. Canlu, Assistant Vice President/General Manager warmly welcomed the participants and RCMBXI team.

Mr. Rolando Bermudo, HR Director also stressed out in his opening, “Your year of performance is a product of many months of your doings. Your month of doing is a product of your weeks of doing.  Your week of doing is a product of days of doing.  Your day of doing is a product of hours of doing.  Your hour of doing is a product of minutes of doing.  Your minute of doing is a product of seconds of doing.”

The branch facilitated their LMC in which Pepsi Cola is not new of and introduced the structure under the LMC Convergence of programs wherein the programs of DOLE namely family welfare, occupational safety and health, productivity, labor law compliance are converged under the umbrella of LMC.  Ms. Nancy L. Lasquite, Supervising Labor and Employment Officer (LEO) thoroughly gave the conceptual framework of LMC.

Ms. Lasquite stated “Communication is like the shape of the heart.  You combine the left ear of the management and the right ear of the labor then you will form a heart.”

Cary Jun P. Montero, Senior LEO also gave the grievance machinery and presented their grievance procedure based on their CBA. Montero said, “Conflict is inevitable. That is why we have machinery that we can utilize at the plant level.”

As believer on LMC, Pepsi-Cola positively looks 2019 as another year of success and to move to make a difference.

The company was already facilitated by the branch way back in 1990 and is now ready to soar high by maintaining their success and to level up in 2019.

It was established in 1964 located at Barangay Dumoy, Davao City.  It manufactures products like its original drink pepsi, 7up, mountain dew, gatorade, lipton, premiere purified drinking water, aquafina purified drinking water, tropicana twister juicy pulp, tropicana coconut water among others such as no sugar products, gatorade electrolyte water drink and pepsi max.

Its union is Pepsi-Cola Employees and Workers Union headed by Ms. Mercedes Abucayan, local union president.  It is affiliated with Sentro ng mga Nagkakaisa at Progresibong Manggawa (SENTRO) headed by Mr. Rodel Abenoja, Regional Secretary for Mindanao.
