RCMB XI RESOLVES DISPUTES AT
KUWAITI RUN BANANA PLANTATION
The Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board (RCMB) XI resolves the disputes at Musahamat Farms Incorporated last June 19, 2018 in one sitting.
Aerrine Marie R. Reyes, Regional Branch OIC-Director revealed that the disputes stemmed from the piece-rate scheme implemented by the management and the non-provision of the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
The union, an affiliate of ALU-TUCP, opposed the piece-rate scheme alleging that it was inhuman and oppressive of labor as they were required to work beyond 8-hours with no overtime pay. The union also questions the non-provision of the PPE which is, according to them, violative of the standards required by the occupation safety and health.
Through the intervention of this Office, the parties agreed to revert the salary scheme to daily paid with the management’s undertaking to provide the required PPE not later than July 31, 2018.
The settlement was facilitated by Conciliator-Mediator Oliver C. Jao.
