Davao Region – New City Commercial Corp. launches NCCC Associate-Management Council (NAMC), labor and management cooperation (LMC) committee of NCCC on August 25, 2016 at the Kadayawan Hall, NCCC Mall, Maa, Davao City and on September 22, 2016 at the NCCC Mall, Tagum City. They call this activity the “NCCC Associates Congress” which was initiated and materialized through their LMC.
All of the officers of their steering committee which they call the Central Committee down to their sub-committees namely the family welfare, labor laws compliance, decorum and investigation, productivity improvement and corporate social responsibility assigned in Davao area took oath of office before NCMB-RBXI representatives, Conciliator-mediator Aerrine Marie R. Reyes and Senior Labor and Employment Officer (LEO) Cary Jun P. Montero on August 25, 2016 at the Kadayawan Hall, NCCC Mall, Maa, Davao City.
The event was not simply an oath taking but it was made even more exciting and interesting as NCCC also offered their items and products at a price lower than the market price to all their associates. Not only that, they are also entitled to a check voucher payable up to 4 months amounting to P5,000.00 up to P20,000.00 depending on their position where they can use to buy discounted items. This served as the way of management to show their gratitude to their partners in the business.
Likewise, the same event was held on September 22, 2016 at NCCC Mall, Tagum City for the associates in Tagum and Panabo areas.
NAMCI is composed of representatives whom they preferably call associates or partners and management from different business sections, units, branches and departments from the seven areas in Region XI which they group as 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B and 4 & 5. Each area covers different stores such as HB1, Choice Mart, warehouse, Commissary, NCCC Department Store (NDS) and many others.
New City Commercial Corp. was well guided by the branch through the conduct of series of seminars. The first seminar was basically the orientation on the main programs of NCMB such as conciliation-mediation, grievance machinery and voluntary arbitration and labor and management cooperation as well as other programs like gender and development and single entry approach entitled Workplace Cooperation, Partnership and Productivity which was held on April 26, 2016 at the Kadayawan Hall, NCCC Mall, Maa, Davao City.
After the said activity, both parties realized that LMC is truly beneficial as it puts a bridge between the management and the associates. According to Ms. Emeelyn Caparas, HR Services Manager, “With LMC, issues and concerns from the branch which we have not encountered yet have reached to us and are promptly addressed. With our big size, LMC really helps us reach out to our associates and listen to their needs.”
The branch together with the LMC Convergence Team (LCT) conducted another seminar entitled Plant-Level Orientation on LMC Convergence of Programs on April 28, 2016 at the same venue. Focal persons from NCMB, DOLE, RTWPB, OSHC and ECC shared their knowledge and gave a brief orientation on their respective program. Ms. Maris V. Tabusares from RTWPB XI discussed about the basic concept of productivity. Ms. Hannah Badilles of DOLE ROXI gave an overview on Family Welfare Program. This was followed by Mr. Albert A. Bantan of ECC XI for the brief presentation of Employees Compensation Program.
In the afternoon, Engr. Jennifer B. Talo of OSHC XI discussed about occupational safety and health legislations followed by Ms. Sonia Delfin of DOLE ROXI on Labor Laws Compliance System.
Finally, Senior LEO Cary Jun P. Montero gave the rationale of the LMC convergence of programs and conducted a workshop for each committee formed. The workshop was made easier as they have already elected their respective representatives from the associates and management.
At the end of the program, all committees were well represented.
After this fruitful event, participants were enlightened with their respective role as members of the committee of LMC. “This opened an opportunity for the management to assure their associates that they are not taken for granted and an avenue for management to reach out to all the committees” according to Ms. Ren Kate Ong-go of NCCC.
