Through exemplary efforts undertaken by OIC Director Ma. On April 17, RCC-11 Labor Relations Cluster conducted a consultation-dialogue with workers union in the banana industry held in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

This was followed by 3-day series of conciliation-mediation conferences by this Office and DOLE-ROXI on April 20-22, relative to the issues brought by the workers against their employer during the said forum.

Represented by Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) Southern Mindanao Region Vice President Joel Virador and Compostela Chair Vicente Barrios, the more or less 500 affected rank and file union members were assured of a continued employment.

“I am very flattered by the initiative and proactive leaning in addressing potential labor dispute of the man and women behind RCC-11 Labor Relations Cluster,” OIC Francisco said. “With this Compromise Agreement, business and employment were normalized and, most importantly, the possible concerted actions of the workers were prevented and industrial peace – good employee-employer relationship was restored, though there was no Notice of Strike or Preventive Mediation case filed by the Union at this Office,” Francisco added.
